Neuromas (Morton’s Neuroma)
What is Neuromas (Morton’s Neuroma)?
Understanding the condition
Morton’s neuroma is a painful condition that affects the ball of the foot, most commonly between the third and fourth toes. It occurs when the tissue surrounding a nerve thickens due to irritation or compression.
This leads to symptoms such as burning pain, tingling, or the sensation of a small pebble or lump inside the shoe.
Although benign, Morton’s neuroma can significantly impact comfort and mobility if not properly managed.
When to suspect Neuromas?
Signs & Symptoms
Sharp or burning pain in the ball of the foot
Tingling or numbness between the toes
Feeling of a lump under the forefoot when walking
How We Diagnose Neuromas
Diagnosis begins with a clinical examination to identify pain location and nerve tenderness.
Dr. Malek Abu-Al-Nadi may perform gentle pressure tests to reproduce symptoms and evaluate the affected nerve.
Ultrasound or MRI imaging is often used to confirm nerve thickening and rule out other causes of forefoot pain.
This approach ensures an accurate diagnosis and an effective, personalized treatment plan.
